CILMERI 1282 COMMEMORATION 2011

Returning to the work of the Cymric Consciousness society 'Cofiwn' founded in the early 70's and demising in the mid 80's. This blog will inform on the beginnings of 'Cofiwn' and explain the inspiration for it being established and the aspirations that motivated it's advance and achievements. This 'Ysbryd Cilmeri' blog will in main be an introduction and at same time tell the story of the annual patriots gathering at Cilmeri 1966 - 2006 towards a future Adfywiad Gwladgarol Newydd.

CILMERI 2007?

I am not organising anything myself, I am sending out a number of proposals for patriots to consider as to what they may do, as follows:

11:00 am: Rising up of 'Baner Llywelyn' and ''Croes Naid' at Rhosferig, followed by walk (and back if wished?) to below...

12 Noon: Parc ar Irfon to lay wreaths and flowers near Builth Golf Club in memory of the massacre of 11/12? Rhagfyr 1282.

Following which, one as choice of proceeding on to Aberedw to have dinner there in the Seven Stars Tavarn and later commemorate the assassination in Aberedw of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd on 11 Rhagfyr 1282, carrying on to Abaty Cwm Hir where his body was later placed. Today a memorial placed by Cofiwn marks this historic sacred site. Two pics below show remains of Castle at Aberedw and memorial at Abaty Cwm Hir.

Or, patriots might return to Cilmeri, for lunch in Tafarn Llyweln and later march behind 'The 18' to the Cenotaph for the traditional Rally of Patriots, with speeches and laying of wreaths and flowers. Concluding with the ''Balchder Babtisms'' in the stream close by.
